Day's of Sawyer's Life 03/13-05/08/2009

It's been awhile since I've given a complete Sawyer update... I have been a bit behind in letting my child feed himself, mostly because I'm lazy and haven't wanted to clean up the mess I knew he would make! So, just over the last few weeks I've started letting him try to eat a few things himself, mostly at breakfast and lunch. He does good with Ham & Eggs...

... And, not so good with Mama's favorite; Vanilla Yogurt, Peanut Butter, Granola and Strawberries!

Oh My Goodness! Is this little fella growing!!! He had his 1 year check-up a couple weeks ago and is doing great :-} He weighed 24lbs. and was 29.5" tall. He had another little check-up yesterday and has gained a pound and grown an inch and a half in two weeks! My oh my - No wonder the little guy sleeps SO much!

Also, he seems to have quite a few teeth coming in... He already has the top & bottom 4. Now, he has the first molars coming in on all sides, top and bottom! Surprisingly, he isn't too fussy. There have been a couple rough nights, but for the most part he is toughing it out really well!

Now, I thought of my friend Lexia and her little guy Tavish for this next phase of Sawyer developing his motor skills. Tavish is just a couple months younger than Sawyer and has just started walking... Well, Lexia, now you have CLIMBING to look forward to! WooHoo :-} Sawyer climbs onto everything he can right now. He is just tall enough to get himself up onto most household things like the couch and chairs. Lately he has started concurring desks and play tables. He get's himself up there, but he can't get down. So there is some crying and yelping, or tumbling and crashing... The next word he needs to learn is HELP!!!

Oh yes, we have a Toddler! And what a joy he is :-}

Sandbox Fun

Sawyer's first time playing in a sandbox!

Fire Truck (for Auntie Kristie)

Sawyer got a Fire Truck from Auntie Kristie for his birthday! Here he is climbing on it because he hasn't really figured out how to ride it around yet.

And, here he is falling off! Don't worry... He's a tough guy and climbed right back on again!

Red Velvet Cake

For every one of my birthday's I've wanted my mom to make me a Red Velvet Cake. I had it for my 1st birthday and wanted to continue the tradition with Sawyer. I made my first cake from scratch for Sawyer's birthday party! I even made the cake topper (Jon helped a bit with cutting out the figures :-})! It wasn't easy hot-gluing all those Popsicle sticks together, so I was very proud of my little creation!

I'm pretty sure Sawyer liked it too! :-} Nothing like giving a baby his first taste of sugar!

Takin' a little break...

...And diggin' back in :-}

Sawyer's Birthday Party!

We had a birthday party for Sawyer at my parents house last weekend. Family and friends joined us for a couple hours and watched Sawyer try to figure out how to open presents! He looked around with a confused, almost worried, look on his face for awhile, but I think he might have been frustrated with the hat on his head :-}

Once again I fail as a photo-taking Mommy... We didn't get any pics of Sawyer, Jon and I together as a family... And even the ones we did take of Mommy & Daddy with Sawyer weren't that good - BUMMER! Here's the best ones.

Now, the worried face. "What's going on?" "Why is everyone looking at me and saying my name?"!

PRESENTS! Mommy showed Sawyer what to do, and he caught on a little bit!

Then, he chilled out with his favorite part of opening presents - Chewing on the paper and bows!

One Never Looked SO Cute!

Here is Sawyer on the morning of his FIRST Birthday :-}

Sawyer Makes a Friend

The day before Sawyer's 1st Birthday was beautiful weather-wise. Jon ended up not having to work, so we packed up and headed to the FREE Como Zoo (So nice that it's free)! Since it is still a little chilly all the animals aren't out yet... But we got to see some Monkeys, Lions, really stinky Giraffe's, and Sawyer made friends with a Tortuous!

First 70 Degree Day Playing in the Park

Little Sawyer has had cabin fever for about 2 months now (like most northerners get at the end of a long, cold winter)! Finally, we had a warm day and were able to go to the park and play. It was great! We went as a family and brought Texas along too. We walked around a lake near our home and Sawyer got to check out Ducks and all kinds of other people and their dogs enjoying the day! Then we let him out of the stroller to run around and explore dirt, grass and trees for the first time :-}

Blowing Raspberries

Sawyer loves blowing raspberries! He'll get your arm or leg if it's bare, or anything else he can find :-}

One COOL Dude!
